{"id":3115,"date":"2024-10-06T20:25:58","date_gmt":"2024-10-06T19:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/?p=3115"},"modified":"2024-10-06T20:26:46","modified_gmt":"2024-10-06T19:26:46","slug":"golden-oldies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/2024\/10\/06\/golden-oldies\/","title":{"rendered":"Golden Oldies!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Braintree Table Tennis League does not keep sophisticated computerised records but it\u2019s hard to imagine there has ever been a team to match that put out by division three Rayne H in the first week of the league season.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between them Ian Rubens, Ernst Midl and Chris High have notched up 243 years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was particularly pleasing to see Ian Rubens back in action after a four-year gap and at 88, he has surely set an individual record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nor has he forgotten how to play the game.&nbsp; He was beaten by Netts E\u2019s new signing David Montgomery but came out top in his other two singles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Midl and High followed suit with two wins to give Rayne H a 6-4 victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Sudbury Strollers were the big winners in division three with a 9-1 win over a far from negligible Rayne G side.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Natalie Dodd and George Berry were unbeaten while Rayne&#8217;s new signing Conrad Gomes avoided a nil return by beating Geoff Bradford.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were 7-3 wins for Netts F over Black Notley H and Finchingfield A over their own B team.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In contrast with Rayne H, Netts F&#8217;s team were all under 17 and equipped themselves well against experienced opposition. &nbsp;JJ Calisin was the pick of the bunch, the only one to beat Nigel Parmenter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Finchingfield, it was the B team&#8217;s Stewart Grant who was unbeaten, including a victory over the returning Dave Punt.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeldham Whitlocks&#8217; new B team started with a draw against Notley I with three wins from Steve Willis.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Division two produced some more clearcut results, 10-0 wins for Sudbury Wanderers over Rayne F and Notley F over Netts D, while Notley D had a 9-1 win over Yeldham A.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other two matches finished 6-4, Netts C against Notley E while Rayne E got the better of their own D team.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jamie Brooks was unbeaten for Notley E and Matthew Brown for Rayne E.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-0 is-cropped\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><\/ul><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Braintree Table Tennis League does not keep sophisticated computerised records but it\u2019s hard to imagine there has ever been a team to match that put out by division three Rayne H in the first week of the league season.&nbsp; Between them Ian Rubens, Ernst Midl and Chris High have notched up 243 years.&nbsp; It [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":2768,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"gallery","meta":[],"categories":[5],"tags":[10],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3115"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/11"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3115"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3115\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3116,"href":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3115\/revisions\/3116"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/2768"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3115"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=3115"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.essextabletennis.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3115"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
