A local Rawreth derby to start week 6, with Rawreth B<\/strong> overcoming Rawreth C<\/strong> 7-2. Peter Barrett was the only man on the evening with three wins, coming at the expense of Babul McLeod, Eric Green and Tim Cramphorn. Barrett\u2019s team mates Keith Adams and Harry Keys both won two, being denied their hattricks by an in-form McLeod<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another derby this week came when Thorpe Bay\u2019s A & B<\/strong> sides came face to face with, as you might expect, the A side<\/strong> coming out on top. John Poysden, Mark Stones and Paul Sayer took this one 8-1 with maximum wins for Mark Stones and John Poysden. The closest Thorpe Bay B came to beating one of these two was a 11-9 win for Stones over Gurj Bhambra. Thorpe Bay B\u2019s only win on the evening came in a good win for Kieran Skeggs over Paul Sayer<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final game of the week saw a good 8-1 win for Irons A<\/strong> over Hadleigh Forum A<\/strong>. Richard Brown and Kevin Caldon were in good form dropping only 1 game all night in their 6 wins with Dave Bowles picking up two wins for the Irons. Neal Barker with the consolation win over Bowles for Forum<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Division 1 <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the postponement of the Stanford Le Hope A v Canvey A fixture, there are only four matches to report on this week, there were two 8-1 wins and two 5-4 wins<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hadleigh Forum B<\/strong> overcame visitors Hockley C <\/strong>8-1. Veteran Paul Strutt saved Hockley\u2019s blushes with a commendable four-set victory over Mick Tappenden. However, Mick won his other two matches and hat tricks from Player of the Match Paul Fawell and Tony Jacks lifted Forum up the table<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brand Identity B<\/strong> also got an 8-1 success away to Rawreth D<\/strong>. Young George Davis got the better of Dale Gutteridge in a five-set thriller, for the home side\u2019s only victory. Not for the first time, Barrie Delf was POM. Colleague Mick Grout also got three wins and Dale two<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Invicta A<\/strong> consolidated their Top of the Table position, with an impressive 5-4 win away to Hockley B<\/strong>. No player was unbeaten, with Invicta\u2019s Steven Marr taking the POM award. Tony Ayliffe added two as well and Lee Marson had one success. Daniel Patynski got two for Hockley and Dave Colwill and Keith Abbott took one each<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mapledene<\/strong> also had a 5-4 away win, at Rawreth E.<\/strong> Although ending up on the losing side, Rawreth\u2019s Garry Hartgrove was POM with an admirable treble. However, two wins each from the visitor\u2019s Andy Seaman and Lin Roff, together with one from stalwart Bill Smith, gave Mapledene a close win. Gary McCarthy got Rawreth\u2019s other victory<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Division 2<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

 <\/u><\/strong>It may be early days in the league, but already there seems to be a gap appearing at the top of the table where RESSC have opened up a six-point gap from Hadleigh Forum C in second place and they, in turn, are six points clear of Stanford B. At the bottom, and excepting Rawreth F who have only played one game, bottom of the table Hullbridge A are nine points adrift of Canvey B two places above them<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Holland, Bob Skews and Ron Coutts made up the winning RESSC<\/strong> team as they beat Canvey B<\/strong> 7-2 with John and Bob both recording hat tricks. Terry Giddens and Kevin Walsingham both got the better of Ron who just edged out Des Duffield in five sets for his point. Terry had a 2-1 lead against Bob but lost the last two sets 11\/1, 12\/10<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite a man of the match performance from Stanford B\u2019s<\/strong> Robert Salvage, Hadleigh Forum C<\/strong> ran out 6-3 winners with Mark Everard, Satwant Gill and David Thomas sharing the points. Mark Downey of Stanford can count himself somewhat unlucky to come away without a win losing two of his games in five sets<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rawreth F<\/strong> finally got their season underway against Hullbridge A<\/strong> but unfortunately fielded only two players Mike Hayes and Simon Neale. These two were, however, more than a match for Hullbridge winning 6-3 and only dropping one set all night<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Division 3 <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a week\u2019s break for Half Term, it was back to business in Division 3 this week<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The top of the table clash between Hockley D<\/strong> and Megazone <\/strong>was, predictably, a tight affair.  League leaders, Hockley, found themselves 4-2 behind at one stage, but came roaring back to win the last 3 games and take the match 5-4.  Tony Molisso and Jeremy Giffin won 2 games each for Hockley, with Neal Klyman adding the crucial 5th point, with a hard fought 5 set win over Joe Bennett in game 8.  There were also two wins each for Megazone’s Jaspreet Singh and Richard Kidd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A good team performance by Invicta C<\/strong> took them to a 6-3 win over Hockley E<\/strong>. A hat-trick from, player of the match, Keith Baxter for Invicta, was backed up by 2 wins for David Youngman and a single win for Brendan Raja.  For Hockley, there was a win apiece for Graham Gregory, Alwine Jarvis and Barry Crawley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canvey C<\/strong> hosted Stanford C<\/strong> and a very close match ensued. Canvey eventually secured the 5-4 win in the last game when, player of the match, Trevor Hayes got the better of Vaughan Chambers in a tight 5 setter. It was certainly not Vaughan’s night as both his other games went the distance, only for him to fall short at 12\/10 in the final end in each. In addition to Trevor’s maximum, there was a win apiece for Che Martin and Ruben Texeira for Canvey. For Stanford, there were 2 wins each for Mark Farley and Jack Diver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The young Rawreth G<\/strong> side of Leo Goody, Aaron Price and Ellery Pearson notched up their first win of the season courtesy of 5-4 win over Hadleigh Forum D,<\/strong> although none of them could get the better of Forum’s Dean Johnson, who recorded a hat-trick. There was also a single win for Todd Barker on his Forum debut. Bad luck here for Jean Catley who, having played her first game, was unable to complete the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
